New Brunswick RCMP say the death of a man whose body was found in a residence outside Moncton is being investigated as a homicide.
On Wednesday, police named the victim as Michael Eric Claude Steeves.
RCMP had initially said that officers responded to a report of a sudden death around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 at a residence on Route 910 in Shenstone. The rural community near Hillsborough is roughly 30 kilometres south of Moncton.
On arrival, police found the body of a 57-year-old man inside the residence.
An updated news release Wednesday did not say how Steeves died or why police believe his death was a homicide. It also didn't say whether Steeves lived in the Shenstone residence.
RCMP are now looking to speak with a male driver who stopped to speak with someone walking on Route 910 in the Shenstone and Hillsborough areas.
Police also want to speak with a woman who may have provided transportation to someone either on Route 910 between Shenstone and Hillsborough or on Main Street in Hillsborough overnight between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3, the release said.
Additionally, RCMP asked anyone who was in the area at the time or has information on the suspected homicide to contact police.
