Hi all,
This is a quick note to announce a new development in our Founders Tier Service. FYI, fees go unchanged. Service Specifics can be found in the post below.
FYI, we have now opened the signup window for the foreseeable future as we are ready to onboard more subscribers. In short, you get access to the sole analyst who has comprehensively covered all opportunities in the space. Fees are £2400 a year if monthly / £1920 upfront. Rates are permanently locked.
You also get:
1-1 calls with our head analyst and intros into the space as part of my network
Priority allocations for when we start our fund
Management calls with covered companies (if requested)
Whatsapp group (optional)
Full valuation models in case you want to quickly run some numbers yourself
Can request due diligence on any idea
Invoicing to expense the service to your entity
Permanent price lock
So what’s going on?
All founding teir members, as of today, have access to:
Semi-Public market opportunities: where local contacts with brokers & funds are required in jurisdiction to gain access. An example of this would be a fund with access to Venezuela PDVSA bonds
Wholly-Private markets: mostly comprised of private funds, SPVs, and on an ad hoc basis direct claims themselves. This is for those who appreciate investing in managers. This is rarer.
So bottom line, we are in efforts to expand your investable universe.
Our edge here is in sourcing these opportunities, working off my network in the space - people are the source of opportunities here. It’s all privately arranged stuff.
Rationale
As my network has grown, I’m now in the position where opportunities are coming to me. I’m aware you all have more important things to do than legal networking, but as a self-employed 21 year old with no dependents, I do not. You are effectively outsourcing everything but the capital. That’s your incentive. My incentive is to cultivate a reputation through quality and expand my network (people are a great source of opportunities, and I’m a fan of doing joint ventures with anyone who has an interesting idea). I see this as mutually beneficial, and our incentives are aligned.
Furthering Case Partner’s development: The Third Act
Case Partners, my principal Uk Ltd company, originated from publishing equity research and has now opportunistically moved into the world of capital introductions, deal origination, and various other collaborative projects. It’s all in the works. However, there’s a bigger picture.
Once markets have come off their high horse, I will begin the process of raising an equity fund under a holding-company structure and a free mandate (I think mandates kill opportunists), and have public company litigation as a small portion of that portfolio.
For those that don’t know, my background is in microcap special sits / deep value, and would only move to Market Caps $100mn+ more or less once the scaling problem becomes unavoidable. I’ve found looking at litigations has given me some useful mental models, especially around the edge in attention span, information accessibility, and external validators (involvement of other parties). I find the classical / deep value stuff interesting as an intellectual exercise, but the theory is well developed and it’s much more efficient than it used to be. The only way to gain a lasting edge these days is to draw from different investment styles and forensically search for unique situations that don’t fit under any one theory or screening checklist. A blend of deep value and special situations frameworks works best, and at the very least, you need a catalyst.
The bottom line is that I prefer one-offs, where the situation is very obscure and takes creativity to figure out. It helps to be somewhat dynamic in your thinking, which is where being multi-disciplinarian comes in, but I digress...
The exact plans are in development, and we are waiting to see what the markets are like next calendar year. While putting an AI-label on and raising absurd amounts would be easier, we’d prefer actually delivering returns for any investors (or, more aptly, partners). You will hear more from me as my thoughts develop.
Best, Oliver Mitchell
