Some callings simply hijack you, refusing to let you go. That’s how I feel about the launch this week of the Safe to Speak Initiative and its storytelling engine, The Silenced Truth documentary podcast. I can look back at the arc of my life and see how it was nearly inevitable that I would end up working on behalf of sexual abuse survivors. The survivors themselves have carried this burden for too long on their own. Not entirely alone, granted — but they need more of us to step in and help change the reality that disclosing abuse can be as traumatic as the physical violation itself. That’s unacceptable, especially in Christian communities.
I will write further about that calling one day, but today … I’m completely spent. In a good way. So for now, I leave you this video.
