Thoughts on AI Live from Boston

I’m writing this live from Boston, where one theme keeps hitting me over and over again:

Have I been saying this since 2022?

Yes.

Has anything changed?

Not really.

But MAN is it validating to hear a whole bunch of AI experts from MIT and Startup Boston Week say the exact same thing.

In the last few days I have met some incredible innovators, from startup founders, to theologian-futurists, to professional poets who helped develop Gemini’s personality.

And over and over what everyone kept saying is that these AI tools function best when they are used by excellent communicators, creative individuals, who can think critically, and challenge the status quo.

And who does that better than artists and former humanities majors!?

Soft skills are the new core skills.

For decades the “winners” in tech were typically highly technical individuals with incredibly narrow focuses.

But AI blows that all out of the water and open up many doors for people who have been excluded from those spaces for years.

And the leaders in AI here in Boston are all saying the same thing.

Creatives have the most to gain in this whole new world, and this week at MIT we are discussing how YOU are going to change the future for the better.

And that’s it for today! I have to run back to my last few sessions at Boston Startup Week before hopping on a flight back to Minnesota, but I need to give a massive shout out to my friend Urvashi Batra for inviting me to come to the AI Powered Women Summit at MIT (and letting me pop on stage for a moment!!) and Startup Boston Week.
