The miracle is always so missable.

When the life you’ve always wanted walks in
It will likely find you at the sink
Complaining about the dishes
Maybe hunched over the computer
Cursing a slew of to-dos
Or on a walk

Looking for something to worry about
It’s likely to catch you
splitting hairs, navel gazing, unnecessarily spiraling
Because you’re way too close to your life to realize
That it snuck in the back

And appears in daily laughs
Benign strokes of luck
Undetected answered prayers
In everything that’s all too quickly
Labeled “normalcy”

I hope your dream life has the grace
To cup your face
And say:

Drop your shoulders.
Go to your closet.
Pour the wine. And dance.
