Karolina Ciechańska · Scraps of paper and thoughts

I don’t know how about you, but I have this problem that I work a lot, but then I don’t share it with the world. Because of that, some of my work and effort is unseen. Perhaps it’s because I’m not the sort of person who likes to talk about myself. I often find myself in situations in which, when asked about how I’m doing, I can’t find any answer. And it’s not because I don’t do stuff, I just assume people wouldn’t be interested.

So for this last post, I want to talk about what’s been happening on my Patreon - even if part of me worries it sounds like I’m pushing it on you. But I want to share it, because I’ve put so much effort into it, and it become a project that’s genuinely close to my heart.

It’s officially 10th month of it and it has changed a lot since I last talked about it. It started with many tiers, wallpapers, printable rewards, weekly highlights and after few months it became clear to me, that I was too ambitious! I just wanted to do it all, as always predicting that I have more time than I actually have. But overtime my perspective shifted and I decided to transform it into place focused on creativity.

Right now there are only two tiers. The first one is an insight of what I’m currently working on shared in weekly highlights, plus a monthly digital wallpaper. The archive already holds hundreds of photos and little moments that I’ve shared along the way.

In weekly highlights I try to catch the fleeting moments as they pass

The second one is a Sketchbook Club. It’s a shared creative practice, where everyone works at their own pace. Each month there’s a theme we focus on. I share my own sketches and works that I create for it, showing you my thought process or my inspirations. This isn't a drawing course. It’s a space for creative exploration, that gives you a feeling of having creative friend beside you, while you work in your own sketchbook.

So far we've explored: sceneries, everyday moments, black & white sketches, movement and reimagined tales. And for August, patrons chose pattern-making. It’s a challenge for myself as well, as I haven’t made that many of them!

To be honest, I never expected to enjoy creating for Patreon so much, but lately I felt so grateful for that space and that’s why I wanted to share it with you too!

This is the last post from this mini catch-up series. Of course many other things happened in between, but I’d rather save them for later. Thank you for waiting for me to come back, and see you soon!
