The Phoenix

Like the Phoenix I will rise,

The ashes of my life, evidence of my former pain,

Nothing will remain of who I was before,

I’ve closed a door on the past -

I'm reinventing myself - I'm born again!

Embracing the future,

Seeing the world anew,

Determined to fulfill my purpose in this life,

I'm capturing every moment,

Surrendering, as the Phoenix, I will rise,

With Faith that all I ever needed to survive - is - and was - forever mine.

Contained within every ending there is a new beginning. Before the next chapter is written, the previous chapter must conclude. Some endings will be met with relief - and others with resistance. Allowing everything in our life to unfold organically without trying to manipulate the outcome is the key 🔑 to Surrender, and Surrender is the key 🔑 to Freedom.

I speak here as one accustomed to the mind's intense struggle with letting go! I confess that for most of my life I've been preoccupied with managing my outer world, whilst at the same time appearing as if I live a life of freedom! I understand I'm not alone in this! Most of us spend our lives believing that we are in control. Nothing could be further from the Truth!

To live free we must be unattached to a preconceived outcome in every circumstance. This is no easy task, and at first glance may appear to be heartless - as if we care about nothing and no one! Yet whatever, and whoever, we are attached too - may be taken away at any moment! So whilst we can believe we are in control of our lives - the truth is the only thing we can ever control is our response to whatever happens to us.

Like the Phoenix we must all go through the fire 🔥 before we can truly understand the implications of this truth in our life. Through the flames we learn surrender - emerging from the ashes with a new understanding of our fragile humanity, and a deeper reverence for our Divine Purpose. Unless we can release our grip on the safe life we've built - we are not free to claim the destined life we were born to live.

This may sound fatalistic, as if we have no choice in the direction our path will take! I make no apologies for this - for it is my firm belief that whilst we will always be offered a choice, at the same time we have little to no control over events around us that will cause our path to unfold however it decides! Think of your car's Sat Nav System - whenever you take a wrong turn, it will redirect you onto the correct path to reach your destination. It is much the same with life! The lessons, trials, events and relationships we need are all an intricately designed web for the evolution of our soul.

Does this feel scary? Or unfair? Does it feel as if we are merely puppets, being controlled by some force outside of ourself? My experience of life this far has shown me that whatsoever comes my way will always be for my ultimate benefit - even when it seems like a harsh lesson, or a painful life event. It will always be leading me to a new beginning ✨️ a unique opportunity or a complete life change!

Like the Phoenix we will rise from the ashes of our old existence into our new one! Though first, we must burn 🔥. Change will only follow after a period of transition. It is here, we experience the lessons, the confusion and often deep distress, as we process the loss of our former life. Sometimes we will stand in the ashes of that life for a long time before we can truly let it go.

The beautiful truth is that in allowing ourself to relax into the process, without fighting or struggling, we become transformed by the fire. We emerge forever changed by the depth of our former distress. The life we clung to holds no power over us anymore. The things that we felt were non-negotiable just fade away, and are replaced by a new and exciting future we could never have imagined.

In remembering we are loved - whatever this life may bring to us, we become able to experience the fullness and beauty of life. Everything passes - pain does not last forever - and tomorrow is a New Day. Make the most of it.
