In the spirit of not waiting for things to be perfect or to have it all figured out, I started a chat in Substack Threads and then realized I never even created my first post. My sister sent me a hilarious screenshot after an email went out that I didn’t even know got sent.
Ope, I better start typing my first post.

If you’ve been around with me over on Instagram for awhile (@carlyritt) or maybe you read posts when I had Fifth & Rose, you know that my posting cadence is a bit unpredictable.
I put a lot of pressure on myself when ‘launching’ something new online given my day-to-day job (comms/marketing/influencer strategy). I *know* what I should be doing to grow my online presence. But alas, sharing some of my unfiltered life online isn’t my day job so it happens when it happens.
Here’s a peek behind the curtain on how I’m organizing my approach to sharing online.
Substack
How I’m thinking of using it:
More casual ‘diary’ entries as if I’m texting my girlfriends or writing down notes during my morning routine.
A two-way chat + group chat for our growing community. Meaning, you can ask questions in the chat without me initiating a conversations. Think Influencer FB Group or Broadcast Channel.
Some content examples:
Therapy Updates: I love, love, love my therapist and while plenty of what we discuss is private and will stay that way, I’d love to share an interesting thought or takeaway from my sessions.
Meals We’re Loving: Quick links to what meals we’re loving or me crowdsourcing what you’re loving
Outfit Recaps: Share what I’m wearing, what I’m not buying, how I’m styling old favorites (this is about curating a closet you love not about constantly adding to your cart and then feeling guilty).
Monthly Q&As: I need to figure this out still; maybe it will be in the chats; maybe I ask for questions and film / record answers given the Substack functionality.
What I Texted My Girlfriends: Let’s open up the group text if we’re having interesting conversations or I’m sending ridiculous photos
My site (visit her here)
How I’m using it:
The reality is that I need a site to sell my self-published children’s book, Angels in the Sky. I worked with the very talented Kelly Etz to combine my old blog & book website, and I love what she and Alexa created.
More polished articles similar to what you’d read online or in a magazine

All right, what questions do you have? Or drop your thoughts in the comments!
