The Church Is Where We Grow

Devotion for Wednesday, July 29

While you are reading today's devotion, I am on sabbatical. Thank you for remembering me in prayer and asking the Lord for times of refreshing in the presence of the Lord.

Acts 9:26

“When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; and yet they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.”

Following Jesus was never meant to be a solitary journey. Saul encountered Christ alone on the road to Damascus, but his spiritual formation continued as he was welcomed into the community of believers. God could have taught Saul everything in isolation, yet He chose to shape him through relationships within the church.

Healthy spiritual growth happens when believers walk together. Other Christians encourage us, challenge us, pray for us, and help us recognize gifts that we might never see on our own. Isolation leaves us vulnerable, but genuine Christian community helps us become the people God created us to be.

How can you take one step toward deeper connection with other believers today? Reach out to someone from your church, join a conversation, or encourage another Christian in a practical way.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for placing me in Your family. Help me value the church as the place where You shape and strengthen Your people. Give me a heart that both receives from others and willingly serves them in return. Amen.
