Conviction Is Calling You Home

Ezekiel 36:24

“For I will take you from the nations, and gather you from all the lands; and I will bring you into your own land.”

God’s conviction is evidence that He is drawing us toward something good. Israel was scattered in exile, but God’s first words about their restoration were filled with His initiative: “I will take,” “I will gather,” and “I will bring.” God knew exactly where His people were, and He already knew where He wanted to take them.

Holy Spirit’s conviction should be welcomed because God knows where He is leading us. We sometimes associate conviction only with discovering something wrong, but conviction has a much greater purpose. Holy Spirit makes us responsive to God so He can lead us into obedience and into the life He desires for us. As the message said, “Conviction has a destination.”

God’s voice is worth listening for because His direction always draws us closer to Him. A nudge to forgive, change a habit, take a step of faith, or surrender something may feel uncomfortable at first, but God is not trying to diminish our lives. He is leading us home. We can learn to desire His conviction because every time Holy Spirit speaks, we have another opportunity to follow Him into what is good.

Reflection:

Where have you sensed Holy Spirit nudging you recently? Instead of beginning with what the nudge might cost, consider where God may be leading you through it. Take one concrete step of obedience today and trust that God’s direction is good.

Prayer:

God, You promised, “I will take you,” “I will gather you,” and “I will bring you.” Give me a heart that welcomes Your conviction because I trust where You are leading me. Help me recognize the voice of Holy Spirit and respond when You speak. Lead me closer to You and into the life You desire for me. Amen.
