Before I was a children’s pastor — I was a music and play teacher at Gymboree.
I loved the littles— I hated that job, but I did meet my best friend Susan from that time.
We love Susan. We love that Gymboree brought us together. We didn’t love that job.
My friend — that is not Susan — has this theory that children have either good even or odd years.
So when people say terrible twos or threes— is contingent on the kid— whether they’re an odd or an even year child.
My friend — my best friend since childhood — her logic has never steered me wrong, so I believe this theory with my full chest.
My child is an odd year child. Her odd years are her best. I take a lot more pictures and videos during these years. Even years — we survive, but they come with glimmers of goodness and hope. I live for those tiny moments of glimmers.
This playlist makes parenting feel easier on hard days, weeks, “even” years.
If you’re a parent— I see you.
Here’s something that isn’t going to make you want to slam your head into the wall when your toddler asks for kids songs and asks you the same 70 questions in a different way in the span of 4 seconds.
Enjoy.
