The Icelandic Minister of Industry, Trade and Industry, Hanna Katrín Friðriksdóttir, rightfully condemned the disgraceful behavior of Icelandic whalers who were laughing as one of their own roughly and rudely fondled the penis of a dead fin whale as loudspeakers blared with the Icelandic national anthem.

She stated, "The use of the national anthem in these circumstances is, of course, inappropriate. I think I can say that. But overall, it seems to have come down to pure nonsense."

I would describe it as a clear indication of the lack of respect for a magnificent, self-aware being that had just experienced an agonizingly slow death at the hands of the very same people who think it is amusing to desecrate the bodies of their victims. They also ripped the fetus from a pregnant fin whale.

Of course, the Minister had to condemn this blatant act of thuggery, but she also felt the need to condemn our organization, which is understandable but confusing because it equates compassion with abject cruelty.

The article states: "She does, however, agree that both the employees, as well as Paul Watson and his colleagues, need to take a hard look at themselves. It is a serious matter when fishermen working in whaling are threatened with death."
We agree. It is indeed a serious matter to threaten people with death, and that is why we have not done so. We've never done so, and we will never do so. We have never caused a single injury to any person in our entire history of activism.

We did say, and it was reported correctly, that our goal is to sink the two whaling ships - literally or symbolically. We've done it before without causing injury, and if we were to do it again, we would do so without injuring a single person. This includes Kristjian Lofsson, and as criminally despicable as he is, we don't want to cause him any physical harm.

So, in response to the Minister’s suggestion, I have taken a “hard look” at ourselves. What I see is a crew dedicated to defending life, all life. A crew so committed to nonviolence that animal products are not consumed onboard ship. The ship is 100% vegan, and veganism is the ultimate form of respect for life.
I would also suggest that the government of Iceland also take a hard look at themselves. There are 195 countries in the world and only four engaged in illegal commercial whaling. Norway, Denmark, Japan and Iceland. I think it is time for Iceland to do away the harpoons and to take measures to end the vicious nonsense of whale serial killer Kristjian Loftsson.

The only death we wish to see is the death of the cruel, ecologically destructive whaling industry.

Iceland's thousand years!
The nation is diminished with the blood of the whales
A perversion of Gods merciful way.
- Words inspired by the Icelandic national anthem.
