Olivier v. City of Brandon, Mississippi — March 20, 2026

Gabriel Olivier is a Mississippi street preacher who regularly went to the sidewalks outside a local amphitheater where large crowds gathered for events. The City of Brandon responded by passing an ordinance requiring anyone engaging in “protests” or “demonstrations” near events to stay inside a designated “protest area.” When Olivier ignored the rule in 2021 and preached on the sidewalk instead, he was arrested, pleaded no contest, and paid a fine.
