Our next meeting is at 7 p.m. TONIGHT at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, 112 East Washington Street in Jackson. Our program this time will be presented by Dr. Courtney Kisat of SEMO University's Department of History and Anthropology, on her ongoing research, "Steamboat Calamities of the Middle Mississippi River." Cape Girardeau saw its share of steamboat wrecks over the course of the heyday of river travel (1820-1890). Learn about some of these disasters, some of which may have involved your ancestors.
