Alejandro Kirk keeps carrying the Blue Jays, and Toronto is rolling into Game 2 against Tampa Bay.

Kirk went off Tuesday night, finishing with three hits, a home run, and three RBIs in a 10-5 win.

Ernie Clement backed him up with two hits and helped push the offense to a season-high type of night.

Between the two of them, that's five runs and six hits in a game that never really felt in doubt.

Before Wednesday's game, the Blue Jays made it official on social media. "Captain Kirk is hitting .392 in August," the team posted.

On the year, Kirk is hitting across 49 games with 44 hits, five home runs, and 22 RBIs in 163 at-bats.

Over his last 10 games, he's collected 13 hits and driven in seven runs, exactly the kind of surge a lineup needs during a playoff push.

Toronto also made a notable move in the farm system

While all that was happening on the field, Toronto quietly promoted catcher Edward Duran within the organization.

Per the MiLB Transactions Log, Duran was assigned to Double-A New Hampshire from High-A Vancouver.

The 22-year-old, originally acquired from the Marlins in 2022, wasted no time making an impression at the new level.

In his first game with New Hampshire, Duran collected two hits, two RBIs, a stolen base, and a walk in three at-bats.

Before the promotion, he spent most of the season with Vancouver, hitting .231 with 39 hits, seven doubles, two triples, and two homers over 44 games.

None of that changes Toronto's picture this week. The Blue Jays still have Kansas City and Seattle on deck after this Tampa Bay set.

But between Kirk's tear and a catching prospect climbing levels, Toronto's system is showing signs of depth in more than one place right now.
