But here, it’s audio only. (The verdict is still out on this, for me. Are the video interviews worth it? Or just stick with audio only? I don’t know. I’ll probably just do what I feel like. Yeah, that’s a better plan).
So the story goes:
Longtime friend of the show Jeff (I did the last interview with him here, and he also edited this podcast episode) sent me Barry’s profile on Threads. Barry had just finished composing the score for Demon Detective, and was looking to interviews about composing for indie films. I reached out, and we recorded one Saturday over the internet from opposite sides of the world.
I’ve always loved film scores and have been enrolled for a year in a music theory/ production class where I have been learning about how to evoke emotion through modes and various musical concepts. I consume copious amounts of film scores so this interview was incredibly interesting and informative for me. It would be helpful to those people who are interested in getting into film scoring.
