Many thanks to Sezane for partnering with us on today’s newsletter.

By the time you’re reading this, I’ll have slept at our beach house for exactly two nights. After almost six years of renovating—the longest exercise in patience I’ve personally experienced—we’re finally here, and it’s a little surreal. First morning coffee on the deck, waking up to ocean waves, all the things that I’ve laid awake at night fantasizing about for the last several years.

I turned 42 the day we arrived, and I keep coming back to how much lighter I feel than I did at 40. There’s something that’s been internally shifting—saying no to commitments I’m doing out of obligation, shedding things I’ve outgrown. Caring less about what really doesn’t matter in the long run—or trying to hold onto a version of my life that no longer fits. It’s uncomfortable at times, but it also feels like freedom. And it’s the most regulating thing I’ve ever done for my health.

The summer ahead feels full of possibility. Here’s what I loved this month.

It’s feeling like a French girl summer since I’ve been wearing Sezane for every occasion where I want to feel pulled together and/or chic. Current rotation: this incredibly flattering jumpsuit that I wore with platforms and this bag to a brand dinner I hosted last week. And a lightweight jacket in the most perfect shade of green that I threw over a white v-neck and white shorts for a birthday lunch my friends hosted for me. Oh, and THIS charm on a gold chain that’s giving me all the summer feels.

The Garcon Shirt in French Blue—there’s something so effortlessly sexy about a linen shirt in this classic shade. It gives very “woke up and grabbed this from my boyfriend’s closet”—where said boyfriend could quite possibly be JFK Jr. I’ve been wearing it with these perfect linen shorts and plan to have it open over a swimsuit for basically the entire summer.

Speaking of swimsuits—my official ones this summer are Negative’s Scoop Top and French Cut Bottom. I have both in black and red, and they’re so flattering I genuinely cannot think of a reason to own another swimsuit. (Also worth a mention: I only wear this bra now. Just added the grey, already have sand and white.)

Still reaching for my Anessa Jeans multiple times a week— the fit is just unbeatable—but I also added the Arellia Skimmers for a slightly more relaxed, barrel-leg shape. The length is exactly right for flat sandals (I’ll be wearing these until October.)

For those days when I need to look like I tried but want to feel like I’m in pajamas (frequent occurrence): this linen top and pants are my answer. I got both pieces in small, wear them from morning coffee straight through errands, and (full transparency) may have slept in them once or twice.

I’ve never been a onesie person when it comes to activewear, but this Happily Grey capsule has fully converted me. It’s surprisingly flattering, incredibly comfortable, and looks fab with an oversized sweatshirt thrown over. The coordinating sports bra with the built-in navy layer is equally great. Pilates uniform, check.

I’m also loving a workout dress these days—for golf, meeting friends for walks, or just feeling really high-energy while I’m running errands. I’m into this one with a baseball cap and sweatshirt thrown over my shoulders, and I’ve got this polo version on my wishlist for my golf wardrobe.

I did a little damage at Credo’s recent sale (no regrets.) The haul: this volumizing hair mist that gives lift for days, a fig/lavender/basil candle that I want in every room, a rosy lip balm that feels like actual butter on your lips, and this kit that’s basically a lymphatic massage in a box—I grabbed it for a friend who just had a baby to get that lymph flowing.

I’ve been fully savoring my afternoon matcha ritual this month, and the only brand I drink is Pique, thanks to its ceremonial grade, antioxidant-packed Sun Goddess Matcha that comes in handy single-serve pouches. If you haven’t gotten on the matcha train, this one will convert you.

Summer = more sun, which for me usually means dark spots and melasma. So here’s my secret weapon: a shake of this potent Vitamin C booster mixed into my moisturizer every morning. One small step, noticeably more even and glowy skin. It’s become a non-negotiable during the summer months.

I’ve been a ZIIP loyalist for years—it’s one of the few techy skincare tools I believe actually does something—and they just sent me their new 2.0 Halo to try. The upgrade is real. When I’m using it consistently, the lift and brightness are visible enough to be actually noticeable. I try to do it for 7 minutes at a time, 4x per week.

Upgraded my sleep mask to this one, which apparently every beauty insider considers the gold standard, and now I understand why. Yes, it’s an investment, but—it’s total blackout, contoured so it doesn’t destroy my lashes overnight, and one of those things where I panic if I forget to throw it in my suitcase. Their hair-protecting scrunchies in brown have also become an essential for me.

Just restocked my holy grail liquid blush—I dot the shade “encourage” (a soft nude pink), or this one in the shade “hope,” onto the apples of my cheek, then use a brush to blend, and spread a little across the bridge of my nose, for a sunkissed flush. So good for summer.

And my air-dry hair routine is dialed in for summer:

  • After showering, I wrap in this hair towel— it absorbs moisture without breakage (which matters more than you might think).

  • Then I scrunch this texturizing mousse roots to ends, loosely twist Diana Cohen-style (her tutorial is worth watching), and clip in place with these overnight. Wake up to beachy waves.

  • On day two or three, this dry shampoo at the roots buys me another day between washes.

My friends’ group text has been sharing travel favorites lately, and I dropped this toiletry bag into the thread immediately. The organization is unmatched, the look is so chic, and Phoebe and I literally fight over who gets to use it on a trip—which is the highest compliment.

And one more thing—handcrafted wood salad bowls are back in stock at Casa Zuma in almost all sizes. This is one of the most frequently-used items in my kitchen, and (especially during farmers-market season), it’s on our dinner table every night, filled with whatever greens and produce are in season.

Happy summer friends!! xo
