Introduction

CAMentrepreneurs exists because the world needs people who build, not just people who comment. In a time of attacks, tension, and uncertainty, it is easy to feel powerless – but small, committed communities can still change the direction of society.

Artificial intelligence is reshaping our world at incredible speed. It creates huge opportunities, but also risks around bias, privacy, and misinformation, so we must use it thoughtfully, not blindly.

That is why coming together in person matters. When we share a room and speak from common values, we show the authenticity of our work and of the people behind the words.

CAMentrepreneurs brings together those willing to face this complexity, support each other, and build ventures that solve real problems – one project, one collaboration, and one honest conversation at a time.

Founder <> Funder matchmaking

Andrew Shailer-Smith (CAMentrepreneurs London and Treasurer writes) “We now have connections to approximately 120 VCs, angels, and family offices in the UK. If you are a startup looking for funding, send me a message on LinkedIn and I will do my best to make relevant introductions. Any sector, any round – you just need to be UK‑based and have at least one Cambridge alumnus among the founding team. If you have reached out to me before and have not heard back, please send another message; there is a good chance your original note got lost in the deluge, and I apologise if that happened. I will reply to all requests.

If you are an angel or VC investor, or represent a family office, please also feel free to get in touch. We have startups from all sectors and at all stages in our community, and I would be delighted to facilitate connections where I can.”

Mentoring

CAMentrepreneurs have a mentoring platform here Set it up years ago, and rather than neglected my role as moderator. If you’re looking for a Mentor is a great place to start. Shout out to David James in Warsaw who got very positive feedback from mentee. I realise I haven’t recognised or thanked all the mentors enough, so I’m doing it now. And thanks to the Founder of Mentordeck - Jonathan Gorczyca - for providing us with this platform. Many thanks. I interviewed him years ago here.

Many 100s of potential mentors have “incomplete profiles” and are being sent messages that look like this:

There is also a video here If you wanted to be a mentor, but nothing happened, check that your profile is complete.
