Cambrian · Cambrian’s Substack

Cambrian offers a unique solution for developers of decentralized networks, also known as Actively Validated Services (AVSs).

AVS is a concept initially set in the EigenLayer protocol. In simple terms, AVS is a distributed system consisting of trustless node operators that perform computational tasks for your end service. To ensure operators do their job properly, they must provide economic security as a condition to participate in the operations and guarantee the verified outcome, based on the network’s security protocols.

We plan to achieve it by building a strategic alliance with Solana, which is currently the fourth most active blockchain network by total value locked (TVL) after Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tron. As of late September 2024, Solana’s TVL was around $5.5B, according to Defillama.com.

Cambrian aims to facilitate the deployment of highly customizable and decentralized networks based on the Solana blockchain. The platform can be integrated with all Solana restaking protocols, allowing developers to create hundreds of new AVS across the industry.

Cambrian’s elegant solution is about offering an SDK and command line tools that would speed up an AVS creation and its integration into the Solana blockchain. By leveraging Solana security protocols, builders can develop an AVS and deploy it seamlessly into the network. The solution paves a way to minimize the development issues. Like it was mentioned above, it also provides a smooth integration with all Solana restaking protocols.

Cambrian does a hard job by providing all ready-made decentralization components for your network. Developers gain direct access to Solana shared security through restaking. The network is backed by over 4,000 nodes spread between 45 countries, 230 cities, and 544 data centers (as of March 11, 2024), according to stakin.com.

However, networks using restaking security are still a new and complex technology, typically requiring weeks and even months to launch due to infrastructure needs, ongoing management, and resource demands. Let’s see what Cambrian can do for developers within the Solana universe.

A Call for Freedom: Saving Time for AVS Development

Cambrian dramatically changes the development landscape by simplifying the entire process and significantly saving developers’ time at the product launch stage.

As part of the solution, streamlining management makes it easier for builders to deploy and maintain their decentralized networks in a customizable environment. Using Cambrian’s framework, developers can launch these networks using ready-made modules. This approach shrinks the development process. It also speeds up time to market, introducing projects to users at a faster pace.

AVSs offer new possibilities for apps that don’t fit perfectly within the rollup service. By removing technical barriers, Cambrian allows builders to focus on developing AVSs within the Solana blockchain.

Variety of AVSs

Cambrian enables a vast variety of AVSs, from bridges to decentralized sequencers to oracles. Let’s embrace them, as many of them are perfect use cases of existing and future research for developers.

  1. Rollup services:

  • Decentralized Sequencers.

  • Bridges.

  • MEV Services.

  • Watchtowers.

  • Data Availability

  • Keeper Networks.

  1. Coprocessors:

  • AI Execution.

  • Linux.

  • Databases.

  • ZK Provers.

  • ZK TLS.

  1. Others AVSs:

  • Secure Multiparty Computation.

  • Oracles.

  • Decentralized Storage.

  • MEV

  • Proof of Location.

  • Proof of Identity.

  • …and more.

With the Cambrian solution, builders can implement plenty of AVS development options. For example, they can build hyperscale Data Availability layers providing a high DA rate and low cost by utilizing Solana restaking. Decentralized Sequencers as lightweight/hyperscale AVS can be built on a Cambrian solution with a quorum of SOL stakers. There are also various development solutions for Bridges and Oracles as lightweight AVS, as well.

By choosing Cambrian, Solana AVS builders exercise their freedom, removing technical barriers to development and deployment. They also choose security, provided by the decentralized trust, delivered from Solana stakers to modules that provide validation services. The Cambrian solution features both freedom and security.
