Mads here! Welcome to Friend of Camber, where our favorite people share their go-to LA spots.

This week, we’re hanging with Brooke Baevsky (AKA Chef Bae), award-winning chef, TV personality, host of Overheard Eats, and the person making “healthy” food actually taste good. I met up with Brooke last week to film a very fun video all about her favorite spots around LA and, naturally, we had to taste-test her new Levain collab together. Hard-hitting journalism, obviously.

Brooke has built a following of 1.5M for her allergy-friendly recipes, appeared on Food Network, and cooks for some very A-list Angelenos. For a new muffin collab, Levain turned to Brooke to bring the gluten-free, dairy-free magic: a bakery-style muffin with a cinnamon swirl and vanilla glaze that captures all the cakey, gooey goodness of a cinnamon roll. No compromises, just a really, really good muffin (I co-sign this).

Let’s get to know her LA!

What’s your “I don’t want to gatekeep, but I kind of do” rec?

I love Cobi’s for dinner, it’s delicious. That’s like if-you-know-you-know LA. And then I’m basic I like the Craig’s and the La La Land’s, you know!

Where do you go when you want to feel like a regular?

Well now the Levain, I literally pass every single one and I’m like “Hey guys!!”. Then also Erewhon. That is literally like my 800 square feet of fame. Specifically the one in Beverly Hills.

Where’s the one place you’ll actually cross the 405 for?

Two faves on each side. Brentwood Country Mart for brunch. Also for dinner, get the salmon with sumac espelette chili and fennel pollen, chefs kiss! And then Carmel in West Hollywood. Each side, those are amazing.

Which neighborhood do you talk about like it’s your personality?

Beverly Hills, but after the fires and everything I did with my kitchen making prepared high-protein meals in the Palisades, I would say the Palisades also has my heart too. And now it’s back, and it’s amazing how the community has just come full circle. I’m going out to the Palisades this week, so I’m excited to see it!

What place would absolutely destroy you if it ever closed?

Any of the healthy, trendy grocery stores. All of the cute matcha shops, they just take all my money. I buy things I could easily make at home, it's embarrassing. And don’t even talk about my chef lunch or dinner, like eating a rotisserie chicken in the car, or the raccoon meals over the sink!
