Last August, we swapped a beach summer for an Alps summer, travelling across Germany and Austria by car and it was easily one of the most beautiful trips we have ever done. Perhaps I unfairly categorised Germany as a destination with little to offer other than historical landmarks or places to visit in the winter for the Christmas markets, but boy, oh boy, was I wrong.
Truthfully, if you blindfolded me, dropped me off into one of the lakes in Germany and told me I was in Canada, I would have believed you. The scenery here is otherworldly; the waters are the colours of precious gems, and nature is so accessible that everyone can enjoy it. I was overwhelmed by the messages I received about this trip, so as promised, I am giving you the deets.
To do this trip justice, I will be splitting these guides into three segments, which is how we split up our trip. Starting on one side of Germany, driving through to Austria and then ending again in Germany. I’ll be covering all the beautiful swimming lakes, unique stays, spa days, accessible hikes, what food to try, and honest information so you know what to pack, what to skip and what not to miss!
Just Good Things is a reader-supported newsletter (thank you for supporting, valuing and trusting me with recommendations!) The following guides will be available to paid subscribers. As with all my paid posts, you can get a free post preview, so hopefully, there's one that will be helpful to you.
Anyway, let's get into it…
