Your fandom confessions made my day

Dear Book Friends,

First of all, thank you to everyone who replied to my “I blame YouTube” email.

I knew I probably wasn’t the only one who had fallen down a fandom rabbit hole… but I didn’t realize how many of us were happily living down there.

A few highlights from your confessions:

One reader told me they read hundreds of books every year and even send authors typos they find while reading. Honestly, that might make them the patron saint of authors everywhere.

Another person summed up their interests simply as: dragons and serial killers. Which might be the most efficient genre description I’ve ever seen.

A surprising number of you admitted you also fell into the K-pop rabbit hole, starting with BTS or Stray Kids and suddenly realizing you were dancing around the house when you thought no one was watching.

And one reader confessed to becoming obsessed with a mysterious masked band — the kind that somehow becomes more intriguing the less you know about them.

Which, honestly, I completely understand.

Humans seem to have a weakness for mysterious people hiding secrets behind masks. (Anyone remember which of my books had a masked ball?)

…which might explain why I keep writing books about magical academies full of dangerous heirs who absolutely have secrets they shouldn’t.

Speaking of secrets, things at Wickem Academy are currently getting worse.

Magic is starting to fail.
The wells of power are collapsing.
And Marigold is discovering that the system meant to protect the magical world might actually be the thing destroying it.

Which is inconvenient when you’re one of the witches expected to fix it.
