Dear Book Friends,
It’s Mother’s Day weekend, which I know can mean a lot of different things depending on who you are and where you are in life.
For some people, it’s brunches and flowers and family group chats.
For some, it’s complicated.
For some, it’s grief.
For some, it’s pet photos and avoiding phone calls.
So wherever you fall on that spectrum this weekend, I hope you get at least one small good thing for yourself. A quiet morning. A favorite drink. A few uninterrupted chapters. A nap.
I’ll probably spend part of mine reading, pretending I’m “just taking a small break,” and then accidentally losing three hours to a book and emerging emotionally devastated. As one does.
On my end, I’ve been deep in writing mode lately, which means my search history is getting increasingly concerning again. Ghosts. Blood bonds. Questionable life choices. The usual.
And I’ve loved seeing people volunteer for the unofficial test crew. I tried to send something out to those of you who volunteered, and I think it went to spam, so I’ll try again this week.
So if you missed the last email and want in, you can still reply with: test crew
And I’ll add you to the list for future sneak peeks, scenes, and assorted chaos.
Also—quick reminder that Thornbriar Academy and Hell-Baited Wolves are both now in Kindle Unlimited, which means they’re officially ready for binge-reading season.
Magic, monsters, morally questionable men, emotional damage… all conveniently located in one place now.
Happy reading,
Cali
Light the candle.
Stand naked before the symbol.
Offer your blood.
I escaped my abusive ex, expecting to start over from nothing. After all, the prenup I signed when I married him is ironclad. Plus, he’s positively ruthless. I’m lucky to be alive. But when he targets my ancestral family home to torment me—the one I’m currently living in and my grandmother is dying in—I’m desperate to stop him.
My best friend Maeve offers a witchy solution—a family spell to call a supernatural advocate. After all, it takes a monster to stop a monster.
But when I follow her instructions, the darkly handsome Damien forms from the shadows, a former prince of a dark world, imprisoned by Maeve’s family for centuries. From the moment we strike our bargain and he tastes my blood, he awakens a passion in me, one charged with latent magic. Magic formidable enough to restore my true self. Magic that holds the promise of Damien’s salvation.
