Call it “dark romance.” Call it the deep edges of Calder’s brain that rarely see the light of day. Call it whatever you want, because what it really is… is me telling you exactly who I am.
Welcome to Morally Grey.
“Morally grey” is the lover who slips between halo and havoc. He’ll steal a sunrise, break a rule, break a man… whatever it takes to shield the one he adores. In his arms the line between hero and villain blurs into a single creed:
I will keep you safe, even if it stains my hands.
For the first four to five decades of my life, I have been what I would call a moral person. But as of late, and I don’t know if it is because of age and wisdom, I have come to realize that the concept of morally grey is appealing. I do not care much anymore about the unwritten rules that the general public have for me. If I want to achieve something, I will do whatever it takes.
If someone is hurting someone that I love… watch out. It could be Amelia, Sara, or… you get the idea. I do not swear often, but don’t fucking mess around with the people I care about.
That being said, I of course have limits. Most if not all of my morally grey tendencies are intellectual… psychological. If there is one advantage I have as a writer, is vocabulary. In the right hands, words are weapons. In my hands, I like to think of them as WMD’s.
In other words, don’t poke the bear, you will not see it coming.
Back to the music…
These songs represent what it means to be devoted to by Calder Quinn. Actually, they represent what it means to be devoted to by me. When I love, it is with both tenderness and ferocity. I cover both ends of what I call the “devotion spectrum.”
To cover the devotional spectrum is to master the whole of intimacy. It means I can cup her heartbeat in a quiet, reverent hold… and a breath later drive her to cry out my name like it’s the only word she knows. Whisper and roar are coordinates on the same map of trust.
When you see titles like ‘Take You Harder’ and ‘Made For More’, these are not just catchy sound bites. They are declarations of intent. My code hammered into three short words apiece. Each title is a waypoint on my devotional spectrum: Take You Harder claims the fierce, visceral end where desire growls and bodies answer; Made For More raises the stakes, insisting love can co-exist with passion when the sweat is beading everywhere.
In the future, I will be exploring all facets of the devotional spectrum, but for today… you see the fierce. The raw and the untamed. Morally Grey may be one side of me, but make no mistake… it is the side of me I wanted to share with you for a very long time and I insist that it come first. I am very aware of what is going on here, and what message I am sending.
Believe me when I say, this message is for you.
