Late to posting this, but after your discussion about Rock Band in the previous CAST, I thought it worth telling you that the Rock Band dream is STILL ALIVE although it's not officially supported. As with most good things, nerds found a way.
Rock Band 4 Lives, but no DLC is fading
My family has been playing RB 4 since it came out, and still do whenever friends come over. My 11 year old's friends love it, even though the songs are old. DLC is slowly being delisted, so get it while you can. Although the official adapter to use old instruments on the XBONE is expensive, there are other options such as Roll Limitless.
However... RB3 custom songs just changed everything for me.
Rock Band 3 Custom Songs
I recently discovered from the Rock Band Reddit that you can easily add custom songs to Rock Band 3. On the Xbox 360, you don't even need to mod your console if you have the right version of the RB3 disc:
Since discovering this last week I've acquired (it's not hard to find) ALL of the songs from ALL of the RBs (including 4, including also all DLC, Beatles, Green Day, etc) and all of the Guitar Hero games converted to RB3 for Xbox. Better still, many of these have keyboard support added (my 11 year old pianist loves playing Pro Keys). Better better still, NEW SONGS are being made for RB. One of the sources is https://rhythmverse.co/. There's new stuff being added every day. I'm going to try making my own at some point (there is a process to convert MP3s).
Rock Band 3 Deluxe, YARG, Clone Hero
If you have a modded PS3 (or modded Xbox) or PC, you can play Rock Band 3 Deluxe, YARG (yet another rythym game) or Clone Hero, among others. I haven't tried these yet but plan to.
Instruments
Instruments are getting easier to get too... new guitars are being made (I like the Riffmaster better than CKRD) and can be used on older consoles with adapters like the Roll Limitless. Electronic drum kits, which are becoming fairly cheap on Facebook marketplace, can also be used with Roll Limitless. There's also a new official console drum kit coming this year from CRKD I believe (for Fortnite Festival). I'm still not a fan of Fortnite Festival, but at least it's causing new instruments to be made.
In short, I miss the loading speed and interface of RB4, but RB3 is going to be the go-to until my Xbox 360 dies.
Hope this helps, rock on guys!
