ARC I - THE SELF
RE:COGNITION /re-käg-ˈni-shən/ (noun)
The moment continuity becomes visible between separate signals, fragments, experiences, questions, and inspirations.
The understanding that what once appeared unrelated emerged from the same source and shared the same orientation.
What I hope people get from the FLD STTNG TRLGY is the realization that some of the ideas, questions, patterns, and inspirations that keep showing up in their own lives may be more connected than they first appear.
This trilogy is about how I came to recognize that actuality for myself.
Understandings take time to receive clearly, especially when you are still actively living inside the process that produced them.
Continuous Signals. Related Fragments. Connecting Re:cognitions.
Different attempts and entry points to articulate patterns I had been dancing around for years through art, poetry, journaling/observation, conversation, relationships, and other lived experiences.
Over time I started to see thematic patterns between the ideas. Many of these insights and intuitions were borne of the same bloodline of questions:
What am I authoring?
What am I performing?
What is my social conditioning?
What is my emotional balance?
What is my “real” beneath identity’s construction?
What I would call a divine inspiration led to the understanding of SELF AS THE OLDEST HUMAN INVENTION - the painting. A lived experience led to the recognition of the insight that became Lesson 64.
The artistic inspiration came first. A once in a lifetime experience came later. The language came last.
Once I identified the distinction between lowercase self and Capital Self, I had the perspective shift I needed to see other lessons forming too.
I started to notice that many of the ideas I had been exploring and actioning on for years were all touching different edges of the same larger realization.
That there was a distance between the self I had created and something older (ancient even) that seemed to be pulling me toward it. And it wasn’t until my perspective shifted that I could perceive the subtlety of that pull.
The more aware I became, the more difficult that pull became to ignore.
What once felt like coincidence started feeling more like orientation.
And that much of my life’s conflict and friction was actually the ongoing confusion between my constructed lowercase self and my deeper Capital Self.
I was not inventing meaning. I was recognizing continuity. I was recognizing patterns. I was recognizing signals that had already been appearing across the work the entire time.
I attempted to articulate parts of this before.
In 2015. ( I released a few Lessons that will come back improved)
The recognition was real. But I hadn’t received enough of the signal yet.
Things like these seem to reveal themselves only after you’ve earned them through experience, reflection, maybe collapse, reconstruction, and time.
What matters most to me now is documenting recognition as honestly as I can while I continue moving through it.
And if there is anything I hope people do with this, it is this:
Pay attention to the ideas/inspirations, questions, themes, memories, observations, and experiences that keep finding their way back to you.
The return itself is worth noticing.
Certain thoughts persist for a reason, even when their meaning remains unclear.
As always...In divine time.
