The Webby Awards have a rule. When you win, you get five words. That’s it.
When Prince won a Webby (what amazing company to be in!), he said: “Everything you think is true.” Kim Kardashian said: “Nude selfies until I die.” The Muppets said: “Another Webby bites the dust.” People have proposed, quit their jobs, started beef, declared love, and settled scores in five words in front of a live audience. It is, genuinely, one of the great art forms of our time.
On Tuesday, we decided to adopt the 5-word special with some of our friends in an act of divine manifestation.
But FIRST: today is the last day to vote for Byline in the Webby Awards!!!!! So to that we say: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE VOTE!
Now. Back to the five words. Here's what was said:
Mackenzie Thomas: It’s actually all the story
Ludwig Hurtado: Everybody wants this…that’s all
Stef Dag: What if I told you…
Rachel Bell: Robert Redford kissing Dustin Hoffman
Brian Park: Not according to my therapist
Maya Kotomori: I guess we’ll never know
Peyton Dix: These five words in my head
Ella Emhoff + Ali Royals: I know what you are. Say it. Out loud. Vampire.
Charlie Rinehart Jones: Head, shoulders, knees, and toes
Mary Neely: I’m not easy, I’m perverted
Megan O’Sullivan: Baby, Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Posh
Gutes Guterman: My real name is Michelle
Alex Hartman: Ginger, lemon, cayenne, full branzino
Ashley Reese: Honestly, impostor syndrome is gendered
Julia Rose Eng: Who even are you people?
Geno Schellenberger: Next round is on Jack
Madeline Montoya: I didn’t wanna speak tonight
Jayson Buford: Hip-hop has always needed Drake
Zach Sokol: Big tobacco, please hire me
Sasha Mutchnik: Every exit is an entrance
Jack Westerkamp: I will always love you
Ruby Thelot: Five words for tell never
Chloe DeSaulles: Thought of something real quick
Dying to know what 5 words you would go with. We'll keep collecting them.
