The noon sun strikes the belly of the stone,
A white weight pressing deep into the clay;
She sits upon a throne of ash and bone
To strip the final shadow from the day.
Great summer opens wide her bleeding throat,
The split fruit dying under blinding light;
No cool wind stirs the canopy afloat,
No darkness hides the terror of her might.
The peak of life demands a crimson price;
The marrow swells until the casing breaks.
She holds the balance in a grip of ice,
Absorbing every pulse the hot earth makes.
To reach the zenith is to feed the flame
That burns away the womb from which it came.

The Beauty of a Switchblade will always be a free space to read and rest. If these words found a home in you, you can hold the physical weight of my journey in your hands. My debut collection of prose-poetry and original illustrations, Where the Broken Light Falls, is now available on Amazon.

I am Brandi Lynn. Welcome to a beautifully chaotic space for the outliers, the pattern-seekers, and the sensory-overloaded. We aren’t here to watch the healing; we’re here to watch the clockwork fail. If this resonates with you, I’d love to have you stay.
