It sparked a fascinating discussion on the ongoing links between new technology and pornography, all the way back to the printing press. Australia’s Digital Duty of Care – I downloaded on the excellent event convened by the Tech Policy Design Institute in Canberra on Monday to work through the Digital Duty of Care. It was great to meet Delia Rickard, whose report lays the basis for laws currently under construction that would provide a general duty on tech companies to ‘take all reasonable steps’ to address ‘foreseeable risk’. What those two terms mean will determine the breadth and depth of these laws and there is still some thinking to be done. We will dedicate a full episode on this in a couple of weeks.
