I recently initiated a position in Roper Technologies at an average cost of $333 per share. While Roper rarely makes headlines, I believe it represents the type of business that can quietly compound shareholder wealth for decades through disciplined capital allocation, recurring cash flow, and a decentralized operating model.
Unlike many software companies chasing rapid growth or hardware businesses tied to economic cycles, Roper has built an ecosystem of market-leading vertical software businesses that generate durable cash flow and require relatively little capital to grow. To me, Roper is less of a technology company and more of a capital allocation company.
