It’s been a long road for right-handed pitcher Ronaldo Gallo. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Miami in 2023, Gallo didn’t make his pro debut until 2025 due to injuries.
That debut lasted all of one-third of an inning, as he left that game (which I was at) with another injury and missed the rest of the season.
He’s back this year and has pitched the most in his pro career, moving from the FCL to Bradenton, and is now in Greensboro (he did leave his last start early, so we will have to wait to hear more).
The numbers didn’t stand out in his final year at Miami; he posted a 7.55 ERA with 43 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched. Now, getting him on the field and actually pitching, you can see why the Pirates decided to take a flier on him.
Gallo has a tall, lanky frame, is listed at 6’6, and throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot. His vertical release point is listed at around 5-foot-6-inches, and he gets above-average extension.
