Selected in the 11th round out of Hofstra, Dylan Palmer was among the first wave of draft picks to make their pro debut for the Pirates out of the 2025 draft class.
Known for his speed, Palmer hit the ground running, literally. In three games, Palmer recorded four hits, walked three times (only struck out once), and also stole three bases.
Unfortunately, in that third game, Palmer dislocated his ankle while sliding into second base while stealing. Where most draft picks get to spend the offseason applying the takeaways from their taste of pro ball, Palmer had to take a different approach.
“I didn’t really get much of an offseason,” He said. “I dislocated my ankle at the end of last summer, and I had to rehab my ankle for six months, so I didn’t take my first swing until January, didn’t take any defensive reps until January.”
