A forgotten Canadian cult thriller that deserves a wider audience.

For this week’s Movie Monday, the random letter S brought me to one of the most overlooked thrillers of the early 1980s: Siege.

Released in 1983 and also known as Self Defense, the film combines urban suspense, siege storytelling, and gritty exploitation filmmaking into an intense, surprisingly effective thriller. While it never reached the mainstream, it has developed a loyal following among fans of cult cinema and is a great example of why digging into forgotten genre films can be so rewarding.
