Here's the Dirt on Homeschooling

Hello friends! This is the third post in a series of homeschool newsletters utilizing basic items that YOU have voted for to enhance your homeschooling lessons as a fill-in activity, a jumping off point for a unit study or however you wish to use it! But be warned, these ideas may also lead you down other “rabbit trails” of learning!

In this week’s post we will explore common outdoor DIRT and I hope it inspires you to try one or many of the ideas presented. I’ve made it easy for you, just add dirt!

BIBLE: Read, tell and maybe act out the story of the Healing of the Blind Man in John 9:1-12 for more insight. (no pun intended!) Jesus healed the man by spitting on the ground, forming a mud and anointing the eyes of the blind man with the mixture. He then told him to go wash and when the man came back his sight was restored!

SPELLING: Take spelling outside and write spelling words in the dirt! Find a dry patch of dirt and a sturdy stick and have your kids practice their spelling list in the dirt or mud this week. Kids love anything different!
