I didn’t know what hit us! The little red Toyota car we were in was in a tailspin. I heard our friend and passenger in the front seat talking to my driving husband, in a coaching sort of way, as he managed to get our car stopped. But in a lane of oncoming traffic!

It was a warm summer Friday night back in the summer of 1992.

We were coming home from a church softball game after dark. I can’t remember whether they won or lost that night but I do remember the roads were wet from a passing rain shower. I remember looking out from the back seat and seeing a mini-van on the side of the road with only its parking lights on as we drove our friend home that night.

Next thing I knew our car was spinning because we’d been hit! The crash left me limp and in the backseat with my head down. My black headband flew off with the impact of the wreck. As the days passed, I pieced everything together from the car accident with my eyes closed and from the information my husband and friends told me later.
