You’ve done hard work this week. You’ve looked at what you’ve been maintaining that’s already dead. You’ve named the friendships, the standards, the obligations, the performances, the youth you’re trying to preserve. You’ve calculated what it costs to keep watering corpses.
That’s brutal work. It’s necessary, but it is BRUTAL. And if you actually started letting something die, if you withdrew your energy from something you’ve been maintaining for years, you’re probably feeling raw right now. Exposed. Or as if you have done something terrible.
But you haven’t. You’ve just stopped lying.
So before we move into Week Three, here’s something to help you carry what you’ve learned. Something to help you keep letting things die even when every instinct screams at you to start maintaining them again.
