Broad Ripple Review · Broad Ripple Review

As we prepare to launch our inaugural issue in Fall 2025, Broad Ripple Review is expanding its editorial team. We are looking for thoughtful, committed collaborators who believe in the power of literary publishing and want to help shape a new space for exceptional work.

Whether you are a seasoned editor or someone who simply loves discovering new voices, we would love to hear from you. All positions are volunteer-based, remote, and flexible in commitment.

While editorial roles are currently unpaid, they may become stipend-supported in the future. Our primary goal is to pay our writers and contributors first. We are building this magazine slowly and sustainably, with an emphasis on longevity rather than speed.

We are seeking thoughtful, detail-oriented readers to help review short fiction and creative nonfiction submissions ahead of our Fall 2025 launch.

This is an ideal opportunity for writers, editors, and literary enthusiasts who enjoy engaging deeply with craft and discovering new voices.

We are looking for readers who:

  • Are passionate about literary prose

  • Can provide clear, concise feedback

  • Are open to a range of styles and perspectives

This is a remote, asynchronous, volunteer position. There are no minimum reading quotas. We aim to foster a collaborative and respectful editorial environment. As the publication grows, we hope to offer future editorial opportunities to our most dedicated readers.

To apply:

Please use the contact form on our website and include:

  • A brief note about your interest in the role

  • Any relevant experience (reading, editing, or writing)

  • A favorite short story or essay and why it resonates with you

  • A few of your favorite literary journals

We are also seeking a dedicated Reviews & Interviews Editor to help shape the critical and conversational voice of the magazine. This is a volunteer position with flexible hours and creative freedom. The magazine will cover the cost of National Book Critics Circle membership for the selected candidate.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Soliciting and editing book reviews and interviews

  • Conducting original interviews with writers, editors, and cultural figures

  • Collaborating on publication planning

  • Upholding BRR’s commitment to literary quality, equity, and inclusion

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a strong editorial eye and excellent communication skills

  • Is engaged with literary fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid work

  • Has experience with reviewing, interviewing, or literary publicity

  • Can contribute a few hours per month on a flexible schedule

To apply:

Use the contact form on our website to introduce yourself. You may include relevant experience, what draws you to Broad Ripple Review, and links to prior editorial work if available.

We are not currently publishing poetry. This is intentional. We believe in slow, sustainable growth. We are planning to launch our poetry section in Fall 2026, and we are now looking for a Poetry Editor to lead this development.

This role is ideal for someone experienced, visionary, and excited to help shape something from the ground up, with the support of the Editor-in-Chief.

The Poetry Editor will:

  • Define the vision and editorial direction of BRR’s poetry section

  • Assemble and mentor a team of poetry readers

  • Review and select poetry submissions for publication consideration

  • Ensure all published work aligns with the magazine’s values of craft, resonance, and equity

  • Optionally, develop poetry features or interviews in collaboration with our Reviews & Interviews Editor

We are looking for:

  • A trusted, experienced reader with a strong editorial sensibility

  • Someone deeply engaged in contemporary poetry across forms and communities

  • An editor who can work both independently and collaboratively

  • A commitment to building something inclusive and lasting

To apply:

Please use the contact form on our website and share your editorial background. Feel free to include links to any relevant publications or projects.

We are building Broad Ripple Review with care and intention. If any of these roles speak to you, we hope you will reach out.
