I have two critical pieces of software that I use for writing:
Scrivener - Quite simply, this is the best writing software product I have ever used. It has a tonne of features but you can use it as a plain sheet of paper to just write and write and write. It is its own integrated organising system; throw maps, character bios, images, diagrams, notes, web links - whatever research you need for your story - into it and you’ll have the information a click away while you create your story in the writing pane. Vellum - When your story is written, Scrivener will export it in whatever format you want. For example, as a Word file for upload to Kindle Direct Publishing and have it available for sale across the globe a few hours later.
