I’ve sidelined my sex-in-space series for a few days while I worked to establish a new pen-name. Two stories published. Well, one published and Amazon is in the process of publishing the second even as we speak.
First story was one I’ve had for a while. It’s actually already in print in a specialist anthology published two years ago. I simply repackaged it, changed a few things around to comply with Amazon’s erotica guidelines, worked up a new cover and put it out there. 5 700 words of not much sex - well, not any, really - but plenty of thrilling action.
For the second story I took my character to the other side of the world and gave her a setting, a lover, and a mission in life. This is a character I can have a lot of sex with and make each encounter just a bit different. One a week, maybe.
6 300 words and this is my first real Amazon erotica short model. Establish a character, they meet someone, they both enjoy some amazing sex together, they wind down and discuss what they will do next, tune in next week.
The illustration above has some passing resonance to the story apart from NightCafé getting the characters quite wrong. It took me a while before I could get them just the way I wanted in the right setting.
This will take a while to get going. So far, the one story published has earned me 42c from Kindle Unlimited reads.
For the free report, I’ve gone to a different app. Book Report has some nice features and a real-time earnings report, so I can see the money rolling in in real time, even if I won’t see anything until three months later. Quite exciting, really!
The app is free for the first couple of weeks and $19 a month once you pass $1 000 monthly income. I guess at that stage I’ll re-evaluate but if I’m hauling in a grand a month, the fee won’t seem as excessive as it does now.
The income it estimates is a little low compared to Amazon but, as paid subscribers will see in my detailed report, well in the ballpark.
The lion’s share of the income comes from book sales. My Good Travel Bad Sex* book in both paperback and Kindle versions, with 8% trickling in from 527 Kindle pages read.
For reasons explained previously, I’m not sharing the new pen-name or book details. so these books will appear with covers and titles replaced by codes indicating the series and publication date. Sorry, readers, but you guys would contaminate my Amazon algorithm. I just want erotica readers to see these things.
