Bri Heron · Writing on a Whim

Over the summer, I experienced extreme burnout. I felt it slowly creeping up onto me in the spring, but once summer hit, I couldn’t find it in me to write. My summer class was difficult and fast-paced, and any time I opened up my laptop I wanted to close it. I love sharing my stories here on Substack but I couldn’t write a sentence, let alone a page.

So, I took a break. And it was exactly what I needed. All this is to say that it’s important to take time for yourself to recharge and feel the love for writing again, and I am so happy to be able to say that now.

This month, I plan to continue with my creative nonfiction series, 1946. That is a series of a retelling of my grandparent’s memories and I’m excited to share more installments.

I know I said I’d be wrapping up Stillard last month, but I don’t want rush the story so I will continue to keep moving the story forward!

I might have another story or two to share but I want to go easy on myself and not put too high of expectations to share stories that might not be ready. Thanks for being patient and for reading my stories! ❤️
