This was a kids week, which in the summer means one week on, one week off (very different from the school-year shuffle). So I had both of them home, a pile of meetings, an errand list that regenerates the second I cross something off, and a midweek trip to Houston to see friends. Somewhere in the cracks I was also glued to my laptop prepping for Prime Day, which is earlier than usual this year and I’m nowhere near ready but I’m over here grinding for y’all :)
In other words, real life. But I also gave myself one small challenge this week, which I’ll get into in a second.
Before anything else, here’s what y’all clicked the most this week:
BaBylissPRO Blowdryer was the top-clicked item of the entire month so far actually. It works just as good as my dyson for like 1/5 the price. I’m going to get it for my downstairs bathroom/guest room.
My favorite strapless bra I’ve been wearing for 15+ years (from Nordstrom)
Crochet skirt coverup - I was so impressed with the quality of this and love it for pool days with the kids too if I don’t want to be running around with just my swim bottoms
My ride-or-die round brush - I have 3 different sizes. If you have shorter hair, I’d get a smaller one bc it will be easier to get tension when roundbrushing
High-neck ribbed tank ($10!)
Okay, now the week and what I actually wore.
Here’s a thing about me. If I have nowhere to be, I will stay in the same workout set I sweated in at 7am, tell myself I’ll change after this one task, and then it’s 6pm and I’m making dinner in the exact same clothes. (Idk if you do this, but I refuse to believe I’m the only one.)
So this week I gave myself one rule. Workout clothes are for working out. The second I’m done, I have to put on real clothes like a person with her life together.
And y’all. I did it. Every single day I had my kids, I got dressed. On purpose. Which isn’t that big of a deal, but I was proud I stuck to the promise I made to myself.
I’ve been talking about how great Target has been lately. I check every week for new arrivals because I can’t get enough!
Outfit Details: Target Dress (wearing XS) // Madewell Thong Sandals // J.Crew Tote // Designer Dupe Sunglasses ($14!)
I have been on the hunt for a white poplin skirt. My favorite is this one from Staud (which $$$ at $300), but a follower challenged me to find something less expensive that’s similar. I love a challenge!
So I found and loved this one from Target, and then it sold out after I shared it a couple times, so I got a little determined to find a budget-friendly version that actually held up.
So I did the responsible thing and ordered four. Quince, Zara, GAP, and J.Crew all showed up at my door to compete.
J.Crew won.
I will admit, it requires nude underwear (yes, that kind). But other than that, I really like it. In my experience, J.Crew’s bottoms run big (especially skirts for me!) so I sized down; I also do for their sister brand, Madewell.
Outfit Details: Petite pull-on midi skirt in cotton poplin (wearing PXXS) // Zara High Neck Tank (wearing XS) // Brown Amazon Sandals // Heart Necklace // J.Crew Tote bag // Striped sweater (worn over shoulders)
For dinner that night, I added this turquoise heart necklace and swapped my shoes for my favorite strappy sandals to match the bag.
Outfit Details: Z Supply Skirt (wearing XS) // Abercrombie Bra Free Cami (wearing XS) // Quince Striped Sweater (wearing XS) // Amazon Sandals // Shell Necklace // Similar Bag
I got a new Zara order in this week and did not manage to create a single piece of content around it. It happens. But I did wear this dress to dinner over the weekend, so it counts for something.
Outfit Details: Zara Maxi Dress (wearing size S) // Ancient Greek Sandals (Amazon dupe!) // Madewell Woven Tote // leMel Turquoise Bracelet
…a closer look at the details on this zara dress.
Before we left for Houston I had a few days of heavy computer crunch work at home, which means a couple of comfy, easy outfits for sitting at my desk all day. No notes, no regrets.
I love this patriotic sweater that I grabbed for Memorial Day weekend. It is coming with me to Colorado for the 4th too, because when something works I run it into the ground.
Outfit Details: American Flag Sweater (wearing XS) // Zara Mom Shorts (TTS)
I shared how much I’m loving this high neck tank (that’s $8!!!) from Amazon and I got a lot of questions about my fave strapless bra for tops like this. I’ve been wearing this one from Nordstrom for 15+ years!
Outfit Details: Drawstring Pants (wearing XS) // Amazon High Neck Tank (wearing XS) // Quince Striped Sweater (wearing XS) // Amazon Sandals // Heart Necklace
This is that tank that was a top-clicked item this past week! Such a good find for literally $10!
Houston was mostly easy mom outfits since we were outside for most of the day. Nothing fussy, just stuff I could chase kids in and not think about again.
Then we hit the pool, so I had a swim look in the mix too.
Outfit Details: Rails Check Top (wearing XS) // Matching Check Shorts (wearing XS) // Sunglasses // Madewell Thong Sandals // J.Crew Tote
Outfit Details: Swimsuit Top (runs small - I need a Medium tbh) // Swimsuit bottoms // Matching Sarong
Outfit Details: Tank // Pants // Nappa Leather Double Buckle Slide // Wicker Crossbody Bag
That's the week. Real clothes, real friends, a lot of pool time, and a slightly unhinged amount of Prime Day prep. The promise held, which I'm choosing to count as a win even though the bar was on the floor.
So anyways, see you next week, hopefully still dressed.
