Bridgette Meinhold · Here for the Rainbows

This is me last year when I won art. You could be this happy too if you come to the Monster Drawing Rally.

Why is September the busiest, craziest month of the year? It’s like the good weather propels you all into hyper-productivity mode, like you too have gone back to school and have been injected with the energy of a 6th grader starting middle school. (I know a lot of kiddos starting middle school this year. It’s intense ya’ll.)

“LET’S JOIN ALL THE CLUBS!”

“I WANT TO LEARN TWO INSTRUMENTS!”

“I’M GONNA DANCE AND PLAY SOCCER!”

Ya’ll, it’s too much. Can we save some for October? No?

Fine.

So here’s the breakdown for the next couple months.

There is SO. MUCH. GOING. ON. > > > >

September 11-13th | Gallery Wild in Jackson, WY

I’ll be heading up to Jackson September 11th to the 13th to participate in the Fall Arts Fest. I’ve been saying for years that I would come and could never quite make it. To be honest, I’ve also been intimidated by all the amazing artists competing in the Quick Draw paint out. FYI, the festival is already going on, but I’ll just be there for a couple days.

You can find me at Gallery Wild THIS Thursday through Saturday morning where I’ll be painting and chatting, except for Friday afternoon when I’ll be hanging out at the Four Seasons painting and chatting.

If you’re in Jackson this weekend, please stop by and say hello!

September 13th | Park City, UT

And yes, I will literally be driving home from Jackson to make it in time for our beloved Monster Drawing Rally in Park City. (Ya’ll need to coordinate next year). But this is such a fun event, that I can’t miss it. So get your tickets now and prepare to be wowed by artists making art LIVE.

It’s like a sporting event, but the sport is art and everyone wins a painting.

September 18th | Kamas, UT

I’ll be plein air painting for the PCSCArts Culture Club on September 18th at Dendric Estates. I’m super excited to get out to this beautiful, new cidery in Kamas, UT. I have been hearing such amazing things about the estate and their ciders, which are supposed to be more like a dry, sparkling wine, than a sweet cider. And now I get to paint there!

If you’re not part of the Culture Club, I would highly recommend it….

October 3rd to November 1st | The Compass Gallery Provo, UT

Last year I was asked to participate in a group show in Provo, UT to celebrate Utah Lake. While Utah might be known for the Great Salt Lake, Utah Lake is it’s uncelebrated sibling. It’s a freshwater lake that was home to the Timpanogas people before us white people showed up and mucked it all up, literally.

About the show:

“Utah Lake has a long history of being an oasis in the Great Basin to wildlife, indigenous people, early explorers, trappers, and settlers. This exhibit explores the current connections held with the lake through the lens of local invitational landscape artists, environmental advocacy and lake management groups, and local indigenous peoples.”

I created a special painting for this event that explores my relationship to it, namely my interest in plants and restoration. Stewards of the lake have spent recent years working to restore the lake and especially the Provo River Delta. There has been a lot of earthwork, new park features and a lot of replanting, and I wanted to celebrate that with a fiery sunset, no less. The show will be on view for a month this fall at the Compass Gallery in Provo and this 16x20 in painting titled “Restoration” will be available for sale through the gallery.

November 7th | Gallery MAR in Park City, UT

Please put down in your calendars the opening of my new solo show, “How The Light Gets In” at Gallery MAR on Friday, November 7th. Please join us for the opening reception. And if you’d like to be put on the preview list to be notified of the available works as soon as they are for sale, please email info@gallerymar.com to be asked to be added.

I’ll be sharing much more about this new show in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

That’s it for now, phew!

Thanks for reading Here for the Rainbows! This post is public so feel free to share it.
