Bridgette Meinhold · Here for the Rainbows

Hello hello friends, and welcome back to the real world. I hope you have woken up from your cookie-induced coma. It was a struggle for me, tbh, but alas, there are things to be done, and by things, I mean making stuff.

Today, I want to share a little zine I made for the holidays, as well as my favorite books of 2025, my new favorite cookie recipe, and a little present I put together for the people in my world that help make it a turn. In this case, life is a tin of snacks, because what is life without snacks?

First up, my holiday zine. If you’re curious how to make your own zine, follow the great instructions of Austin Kleon about how to fold, cut, and then turn an 8.5x11 sheet of paper into a cute little booklet.

Original Tollhouse cookie recipe, and the high altitude one, anywhere above 5200 feet in elevation. Don’t skimp on the salted pistachios.

Arthur Skip Meinhold, obituary

Upstream, by Mary Oliver - so many good nuggets of wisdom.

Little Weirds, by Jenny Slate - so weird, so delightful. I like the audio version

Eventually a Sequoia, by Jeremy Collins - buddy! you’ve outdone yourself.

You Better Be Lighting, by Andrea Gibson - I should have included this as well.

The House in the Cerulean Sea, by TJ Klune - listen to the audio version

The Bright Sword, by Lev Grossman - do you like King Arthur?

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty - best book of the year by far. SO FUN. I listened to the audio, but there’s a map, so perhaps I missed out with the real book

I printed and framed this photo. It’s the boy’s cover for their first album “Why aren’t we walking?”

Some time back this fall, I saw an image of an Altoid tin filled with nuts and dried fruit and chocolate, and it was such a charming photo and made the snack look both pretty and delicious. I need regular snacks, and honestly, I’m tired of bars, and most of them have sugar in them anyways, which isn’t good for my brain. And then one day on a hike I came up with all sorts of snack combo ideas and I thought how lovely it would be to have a pretty one. I looked far and wide for pretty tins, but couldn’t find any. So decided to make my own.

I made the drawing featuring elements I was seeing out on the trail in the desert this fall, then converted it into a digital file and sent it off to Nadine at Twisted Maker on Etsy, who laser engraved a whole bunch of these tins for me. So fun, so cute. They turned out great. I take my snacking seriously, and so I needed a serious container for them.

Then, I made a whole zine filled with recipes for snack ideas, printed those out and sent them off as gifts to my galleries and the people in my world who help it keep spinning. You know who you are, and thank for being part of my work and my life.

Feel free to print this out and make your own snack combos.

If you too need a special snack tin, I highly encourage it. I also bought myself a snackelbox for trail lunches, because honestly, it’s my favorite way to eat - crafting perfect bites and mixing flavors.

I have a few 2026 calendars left and they are now on sale. Head over to my website to buy them - $22 on sale with free shipping.
