Briana Luca · Gilty Pleasures

And just like that, my week off from work has come to a close. It was very good, very relaxing (maybe too relaxing) and I feel truly reset. I definitely didn’t do as much as I wanted to with my free time — I took a lot of naps — but it was what I needed. I was very proud of myself all week; I didn’t look at my emails, didn’t even think about work. It was a true disconnection but now I am ready to get back, specifically to routine and structure.

I finished The Vanishing by Wendy Webb and it was…fine. I’ve had the book on my Nook for a while and decided to try it. It’s an older book, published in 2014, but I usually do enjoy a backlist choice. I wasn’t crazy about it — it was a tad bit slow for my liking and ended up with a not satisfying twist.

I’ve already started on two new books — The Most Famous Girl in the World by Iman Hariri-Kia and What If I Never Get Over You by Paige Toon.

Last weekend I went to Hillstone with my sister & brother-in-law and had the most insane french dip of my life. Then, during my little staycation, I went to Connecticut to meet up with one of my friends and had Short Rib Hash at Terrain.

I finally sat down and watched Sterling Point on Amazon Prime and well, I cried my eyes out and had the best time doing it. It was such a beautiful show, not corny in the slightest and held my attention throughout. What I think I liked most about it was that it wasn’t just romance — there were so many other dynamics at play with a true focus on family. If you haven’t watched, you have too!

Just like every other person in America right now, I am watching the Lindsay Clancy trial with bated breath. I know true crime is very sensationalized nowadays and I’m not proud of contributing to it, but this trial feels different because of the medical implications. Before the trial, I was convinced that yes, she of course did it because of her psychosis but now the more I watch, the less convinced I am.

A new pilates studio opened in my neighborhood and I finally went to a class (I actually went to two so everyone clap for me!). I obviously had to commemorate the event with a pair of cute socks so I bought the Bala ones, and love them! They’re super comfortable, thick and stay upright.

Does treating count if it was a gift? I got my first pair of Chanel ballet flats last weekend and I’m obsessed. I also bought myself a few restocks from Sephora (and a few new things because I can’t resist).
