This week will mark the first time in my career I am taking a full week off. Before now, I usually take 2-3 days at a time, never having a real reason to be gone for a week. Any traveling I’ve ever done is for a few days but this is a full week - Friday to Friday.
I am nervous and excited; my calendar is loosely filled but I’m leaving enough wiggle room to just see where the wind takes me.
It’ll be much needed, and well worth it. I will of course report back next week.
This past week was fine — a little anxiety and unsettling but overall, it was fine. I went to my first pilates class which was the main source of my anxiety but ultimately, it was fantastic! I loved it and I’m excited to go back.
I’ve been slow to start new books this week. I’m reading The Vanishing by Wendy Webb which has been sitting on my Nook for a while, and I’m enjoying it. I also read one chapter in Normal People by Sally Rooney and goodness, the no quotation marks is going to drive me nuts.
This week at work, we had a full junk food day that left most of us feeling sick to our stomaches. It was all soda, pastries and cookies, and it was delicious. Levian Cookies are my favorite and I will never pass one up. I simply do not care what the haters say!
My Apple Music Replay for July came out this week and well…it looks the way it always does. Olivia Rodgrio making it into the top 6 wasn’t really a surprise, but it takes a lot for someone to come into the exclusively Taylor club. TTPD has been my top album for two years, very consistent month over month, which I can’t tell if it’s pathetic or incredible.
I’ve been daydreaming about cleaning my house from top to bottom for weeks, and it’s going to happen this week. I don’t mean your typical daily & weekly cleaning routine — I mean a deep clean where I’m on my hands and knees, scrubbing walls and baseboards. I even bought a new scrubber brush to help me figure out the best way to clean my shower because
I come from a long line of cleaners — I mean, plastic on the couch, can’t step on the rug (because it will leave footprints) kind of cleaners. When I was younger, I always thought it was crazy behavior but as I’ve gotten older, I love cleaning. It brings a sense of peace to my anxious mind and body that is unmatched.
I know last week’s recommendation was also an Estée Lauder product (our new Glimmer fragrance!!) but I’ve just been loving our new launches lately, I can’t help it.
We just released our new eyeshadow sticks and holy hell. I am OBSESSED. I’ve loved eyeshadow sticks for years because of the easy application and fun technique, and recently got back into them with the Bobbi Brown stick.
They come in a variety of neutral shades and have a slanted tip so application is really simple; they glide on so easily, are smudge-proof, yet are easily blendable. I’ve been wearing a combination of them every single day for the past few weeks and I feel like it just pulls my whole makeup look together, even if you have a mostly bare face.
My favorite shades right now are latte and hazelnut.
While I’m perfectly fine with the summer season, I am getting quite annoyed with dressing for work, so I bought two new sweaters from J.Crew and I’m excited for them. I’ve also been looking for a dupe of Hannah Chody’s custom gold necklace and I finally found one on Baublebar! I’m so obsessed with it; I got my birthstone (Topaz) but I’d love different shades just to have options. Everything is linked here.
