The Final Week of Love Island USA Season 8

We did it. We made it to the final week of Love Island USA Season 8.

In Love Island world it’s so hard to get content out in real time; things change so drastically from day to day and the episodes are just so quick that I almost don’t have a chance to gather my thoughts, so some of this might feel outdated.

Last week was a major week for us — there was the Casa recoupling alongside movie night that gave us an explosive few episodes but then, we quickly came back down from the high much to everyone’s dismay.

I’m going to save my analysis of the season for next week after the finale but for now, I want to discuss everything that happened last week.

*I’m writing this on Sunday night while I watch the latest episode and it’s actual bullshit that Melanie and Sincere were voted ‘most compatible’ over Parmida and Corbin & Kayda and Zach. I’m not rooting for either of those couples but it was a clear rigged voting. In what world is anyone in America voting for Melanie and Sincere!

Why are Corbin & Parmida going home? They might be robots and a little weird but they really could’ve been in the top 4.

It’s been pretty obvious that KC never really liked Aniya, or maybe he did but it wasn’t enough. She wasn’t giving him the physical attention he desired (or felt entitled too) and he decided to find that in Casa Amor.

After the live heart rate challenge and the postcards the Villa girls received, I think a lot of us were hopeful that it would be the wake-up call some of the girls needed.

Aniya seemed to be headed in the right direction as she got cozy with Carl but at the last minute, she decided to stay single and see if K.C

Her breakdown was so sad; watching her lose herself and basically have a panic attack in front of everyone was a hard watch. But, I’m so glad that she had Melanie there to try to talk some sense into her and it seemed to work but did Aniya really have a choice?

Movie night was a bloodbath for K.C and his incel, manosphere behavior came to the forefront. His mask had slipped and his anger towards the girls was out in full force. I’ll talk more about this next week but K.C is scary. He felt owed Aniya’s body and attention, he wanted to be chased because he thinks he is the prize. The way he talked about Aniya and the Villa girls in general was off putting.

That being said, I was happy to see him apologize to Aniya. It seemed very genuine and maybe it took seeing his shit blown up in 4K to understand the hurt he had inflicted on someone who had simply just cared for him.

Let’s pivot to the general movie night.

It was a bloodbath for the guys (and Kenzie) with Sincere and K.C taking the brunt of the beating.

The most shocking thing about movie night was how surprised the men were to see their discretions on the big screen. It seemed a lot of them forgot they were being filmed — Corbin actually said “Wow they caught everything!”. Yes, Corbin, you are on a TV show that films pretty much 24 hours a day. What did you think was going to happen?

None of them, expect maybe Bryce and Carl, were willing to go against the guys. Sure, Bryce tried to explain what he thought Sincere & K.C meant

It also became very apparent that these men do not listen nor do they have the emotional intelligence to understand why the women were upset.

I was quite irritated that Zach didn’t get as many movie night montages as he deserved. He is sneakily one of the worst men on the island and I’m tired of him. The way he says everything is a joke, didn’t tell Kayda that Alannah was removed from Casa and generally just has shady vibes. I’m also quite sick of him and Bryce’s ‘bromance’. It was funny at first but now it’s weird…

I do not understand what is happening here. I don’t understand how Melanie can sit and watch movie night, see how he played her and how much he lied, and then be won over with one rose & breakfast.

Sincere is weird.

It’s as if he doesn’t realize he’s lying and when it’s pointed out to him he can’t wrap his head around what everyone is seeing. It’s incredibly frustrating, annoying and honestly disgusting. I feel like I’m going crazy whenever I listen to him speak — nothing ever makes sense or is clear enough to truly be understood.

His personality makes me so deeply uncomfortable and I hate the way he has ruined Melanie’s time in the Villa. As the weeks have gone on, she has lost the sparkle in her eye. She has become a more toned down, sadder version of herself.

I wish that Melanie had better friends.

Aniya and Kayda made fools out of themselves by saying they were ‘Team Sincere’ after movie night. I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a dumber group of girls on reality TV.

Parmida sneakily became the hero of Friday’s episode when she told Melanie that she deserved better. They do have a toxic relationship and someone who is not Melanie’s ‘friend’ had to be the one who pointed it out to her.

I just wish she had listened.

I’m going to be so honest, I haven’t been paying much attention to Caleb, Jaiden, Jen, Dylan, and Gal. I didn’t know what was going on with them and I’m fine with them going home…though I would’ve liked to see Caleb stick around and maybe sweep Melanie off her feet.

We needed to trim the fat, we needed some solid couples (which we do have in Brinity, Titi & KC and Parmida & Corbin) going into the final week.

• The cake challenge was weird — Megan Thee Stallion was the only good part of it.

• The karaoke challenge was kind of cute

• Kenzie was the only person playing the game, maybe up until the few days post Casa recoupling.

• Kayda is all talk. Zach has been playing in her face the entire time and she hasn’t batted an eye. Her being Team Sincere is just more proof.

• KC and Titi might actually be a great match

• Dylan crying over Kenzie and Gal was very strange and performative.

Whatever.

None of this even matters because it’s Brinity in 5.
