Past Regrets
A helpful decision-making tool: analyze your past regrets.
Most regrets will be things you didn’t do:
“If only I had tried Y…”
“Why didn’t I just go and do X…”
“I wish I had done Z…”
You can’t change the past. But try to see if those past regrets exhibit a pattern you can break in the future. Regrets can stem from laziness, risk aversion, conformity, denial, etc.
Mine typically stem from timidity. I often regret not being more assertive and bold. What could I have achieved with a trifle more audacity—had I known how little the world notices your stumbles, and how swiftly the moment to leap slips into the past?
