Why did you do this?

The original Purple.com inspired me. Not the current mattress version, but the earlier version (linked first) which existed between 1994 and 2024, before the owner sold it to a matress company named purple.

So I followed my curiosity, did research into something that interested me (LLM’s and the English language) and discovered the word “the” and why it’s critical to both.

Why is it worth $2,100?

Keyword relevance (e.g., “space” and “the” might tie into popular topics like space exploration or tech).
Domain length and memorability.
Comparable sales of similar domains (e.g., if domains like spacehub.com or thespace.com sold for high amounts).
Top-level domain (TLD) popularity (.com is premium).
Search volume, uniqueness, and market trends.

Because it’s real now.

It works like this.

Before a URL is claimed by someone, it’s only potentially exists. All of the .com domains are managed worldwide by a company called VeriSign. I bought spacethe.com from GoDaddy. What they did was ask VeriSign if it was available. It was, so when I pay GoDaddy $12, they’re charged about $8-$10 to buy it from VeriSign.

Once it’s real and no longer just a potential URL, and I ask how much it’s worth, I get feedback based on those bullet points.

Can I make it more valuable?

Yup.

Based on research, I can build the value up to around $25,000 over time with some basic and consistent methods. Cost for those methods? Just a little of my time.

Did I do it for money?

Nope.

I did it for fun.

And to make art.

And to celebrate connections in langauge, in LLM’s, and in life.

Why does it blink?

To remind you that even meaning has a heartbeat.

Because words aren’t the thing. They only point to the thing. Words are like desktop shortcuts. You can delete them, but still the meaning remains.

Every word begins with space. Every idea does too.
