We want to thank you for the many notes and messages you have sent over the last several days, and we sincerely thank you for your prayers. We feel your love and we appreciate your concern.
On Sunday, the United States ordered diplomats’ families to begin evacuating Ukraine. They also urged other Americans to consider leaving soon due to how quickly the situation could change. This decision has caused some controversy. Today, both the European Union and Ukraine feel this action was premature and unnecessarily adds to the growing fears. My heart tends to agree.
However, with two weeks still remaining until our students are due back in the classroom, Katie and I have decided to use this extra time to visit some friends of ours in Germany. It is our hope and prayer that God will bring peace and clarity to this volatile situation during this time. So long as the situation doesn’t get worse, it is our plan to return to Kyiv on February 6th.
If this is not according to God’s will at this time, we have other arrangements made. For now, however, we will continue to pray we are able to return home in two weeks. We are scheduled to fly from Kyiv to Munich at 6:45pm on Tuesday (10:45am Central). We appreciate your continued prayers.
