Why your life feels overwhelming

The internet is a dumpster fire, oversaturated with increasingly useless information.

Every unchecked notification is a gravitational pull for your attention.

Yes, the internet, in 2026 is a spiritual black hole.

  • You don’t think for yourself anymore. You ask ChatGPT for relationship advice.

  • You don’t know your friends anymore. You only know their baby updates on Instagram or rants about Trump on Facebook.

It’s not your fault. High-level players handed you a limitless pill called the internet. And now you’re a dependent user in their database.

The conspiracy theorist in me says:

“The soul-numbing dependency on a WiFi connection is built by design.” By people with a lot of money and hunger for control.

Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t allow the use of Facebook (his own empire) in his household. What does that tell you? These companies and the tyrants behind them are selling you a drug they’d never use.

Why? Because they’d consume all the drugs and become too brain dead to enjoy their riches through your suffering.

But you aren’t helpless. You can fight back…silently.

You must take responsibility for your information diet. Consciously consume nutrition or be spoon-fed junk by default.

  • Nutrition: scripture, classic books, and building skills

  • Junk: TikTok, porn, and fake news

Because not making a decision is still a decision.

If you don’t choose to do good, you, by default, choose entropy (which leads to evil). If you’re not growing, you’re decaying. It’s physics.

So the first step is removing the parasites from your life.

I quit social media last year but I started by unfollowing people who make me feel lesser than myself. That means, anyone who doesn’t support the person you’re becoming. Yes, that means the friends you’re giving a lot for but all they do is take from you.

That also means the business gurus who trigger your emotions to sell you a course.

Let em go.

Your job this week is to unfollow 100 people from all your socials.

  • Facebook “friends” that low key hated you in high school.

  • Random IG accounts that were once inspiring to learn drawing techniques.

  • YouTube channels that you thought you’d come back to for business tips but you haven’t watched their videos in 8 months.

  • X accounts that…na just Ex your X account. Elon created Digital Babylon1 and it’s only getting worse.

I don’t know what you believe spiritually but I’ve been drawn to this verse in scripture.

This Psalm was written in the middle of global collapse. Nations waging war and systems failing the people it vied to protect. Sound familiar?

The word still is a translation of the Hebrew word rapa, meaning “to slacken, let down, or cease.”

God is saying: stop striving through worldly means and let me take care of it. I’ve stopped expecting salvation from leaders or systems. For me, that search led toward Christ. And it didn’t look like power and control but surrender.

My hope from this post is to help you remember what you already know.

  • Social media and distraction = comforting but life-draining.

  • Stillness/slowness = uncomfortable but good for creativity and life satisfaction.

Reconnect with who you are and your God-given potential. Cliché? Maybe. But my intent2 far outweighs the numbing vision Meta has for your life.

Be still and know,

Brand Marz.

See Revelation 17:5; “Babylon the Great, the mother of prostitutes and of the abominations of the earth.”

2

Personal; Intent is the most powerful force in the universe relative to the human exerting it. It literally creates things, allows events to happen. When you exercise intent, you do things willingly. That means if you don’t like a result in your life, then intend to change it. Most people don’t intend to be poor but like I said in this post, most people let other’s choose for them. Most of the time, your intention will manifest if it is in the bounds of God’s Will. Leave me a comment if you’re interested in a deeper dive into this concept.
